Material

At Venerari Gems, we offer the following quality of jewelry.

Gold plated, gold vermeil and gold filled jewelry... now what's the difference between them?

Gold plated jewelry has a thin layer of gold over a base metal typically less than 1% of total weight. The great thing is that we only offer gold plated over stainless steel or titanium steel, which are super durable base metals as they are hypoallergenic, water-resistant and anti-tarnish. However, stainless steel pieces tend to have a darker appearance than gold filled and gold vermeil jewelry.

*Gold vermeil jewelry usually has a thick layer of gold electroplated to a sterling silver base of at least 2.5 microns. We use a specific Italian 925 Sterling Silver base- high in quality that won't tarnish and also safe for all skin types.

**Gold filled jewelry has a thick layer of gold of at least 5% of total weight pressure bonded to the core. All our gold filled pieces have a high quality jeweler's brass core and is second best to solid gold. This quality is long lasting and even mimics the appearance of solid gold for only a fraction of the price.

All our pieces are either 14k/18k gold filled/gold plated or 14k gold vermeil.

You will see what material each piece is under the product description.

Essentially, all our jewelry is hypoallergenic, perfect for everyday wear and made to last with the proper care.

Please read the jewelry care section for more information on how to properly take care of your pieces.
